7/7 London Bombings Anniversary Events July 7, 2024

On July 7, 2024, Strength to Strength once again joined in solidarity with survivors and bereaved families on the anniversary of the 7/7 bombings. The day began with a sponsored space by Strength to Strength at the Intercontinental Hotel, providing a quiet and supportive environment for victims to gather before the memorial service. This gave survivors the opportunity to connect with one another, share, and prepare together for what is always a deeply emotional day.

From there, participants joined the official memorial service at Hyde Park, honoring the 52 lives lost and reflecting on the enduring impact of that tragic day. Following the service, Strength to Strength hosted a luncheon at Serpentine Bar and Kitchen Restaurant not far from the memorial service, creating another space for community, healing, and connection. The thoughtful support of the park staff, who provided buggies to assist those injured or with mobility challenges, made the day more accessible and meaningful for everyone. Special thank you once again to John Payne, whose wife Aiko survived the bombing that day, for assisting in arranging with the restaurant for our group.

The combination of remembrance, community care, and practical support ensured that victims felt embraced, understood, and never alone. This day exemplifies Strength to Strength’s mission which is to provide not only peer support, but also spaces where survivors can feel safe, respected, and empowered to continue their healing journey together.

Strength to Strength will continue to provide support especially on anniversaries for as long as families impacted by the London Bombings in the United Kingdom need us.

Special THANK YOU once again to the Intercontinental London Park Lane Hotel for making the morning so special and the Serpentine for taking care special care of our large group.
