Boston Weekend Retreat

On Friday August 12, 2016, twenty-seven survivors of the Boston Marathon Bombing and 9/11 survivor Brendan Chellis, now living in Boston, came together for a weekend of connection and support. Together with Sarri Singer, founder and director of Strength to Strength, Tom Canavan, a 9/11 survivor and Mike Kenny, a 9/11 first responder, traveled to join survivors in the beautiful city of Boston. Thanks to the assistance of one of our sponsors, the Boston Commons Hotel, the group came together to share experiences and heal. Survivors came from Maine, Wisconsin, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Boston. The weekend was filled with lots of reflection, support, and laughter. There is no way to explain how important connecting with others helps in the long-term. We shared experiences, enjoyed the beautiful city and people of Boston and spent some time paying it forward to help others.

One participant from Boston commented, "Strength to Strength retreats help survivors and their families move forward...together".

Another participant from Pennsylvania said, "It's taken me a couple of days to digest the weekend but in the end the acceptance, unconditional support and good will not just from the Boston survivors but the New York crew made it an easy place to exhale and just be. I laughed and cried (a little) reflected and connected. Thank you".

This is what our weekend retreats are all about. Bringing those together who have had similar experiences to let them know they have support and they are not alone.  Everyone left the weekend feeling stronger and looking forward to the next one.

We would like to thank the following companies for assisting in making the weekend a huge success: Boston Commons Hotel and Conference Center, Boston Marriott Copley Place, Max Brenner Restaurant, Shear Madness, Shun Kitchen, Panera Bread, California Pizza Kitchen and Dunkin Donuts. This weekend could not have been possible without all of these incredible companies working with us and we look forward to working with them again in the future. Special thank you to Strength to Strength's Young Executives Division who raised the funds for this important weekend retreat.

If you or anyone you know has been in a terrorist attack and would like to join one of our future retreats or programs, please email info@stosglobal.org.
